So, you've found some items in your home you're ready to declutter. But what now? A lot of that depends on how much time and energy you have to devote to it and the condition of the items. Are the textiles ready for recycling? Do you need things hauled to the dump? Here are some options, depending on what you need for the next step. My next post will offer more places to sell your items if you have the time and energy to dedicate to that.

Just Porch It – Bag up your items and leave them on your porch. Gather unwanted items such as clothing, shoes, belts, backpacks, purses, hats, bedding, and towels (just not wet/moldy), accessories, knickknacks, & small household items in bags. They will pick them up for you and recycle or repurpose the items for free. (800)965-6519. https://justporchit.com

1-800-Got-Junk - Will come to your location and give you a quote to haul away your items, based on how much space it takes up in their dumpster truck. They will haul large items. You can accept or deny at the time. Very convenient, and you can schedule an appointment online with little notice. www.1800gotjunk.com

Junk Luggers of Treasure Valley– similar business model to above; their website says they serve Meridian, Kuna, and Boise. www.junkluggers.com 1-800-LUG-JUNK(Clutter Conquered has never used)

For houseware items and clothing you want to donate:

St. Vincent de Paul – Thrift stores take most items, or they will come collect your items for a fee. https://www.svdpid.org

Goodwill has locations and trucks around Treasure Valley. They give shopping coupons for the thrift store and/or donation receipts. https://www.esgw.org/location-list/id/

If you have books that are still in relatively good condition, there are lots of little libraries around town where people put books in and let others come get them, and it's just a way to offload them from you, and let someone else enjoy them.

For electronics recycling in the Treasure Valley,

Monday afternoons at Republic Services on Franklin in Meridian – Will accept functioning or broken items. Free of charge.

Tuesday afternoons in the Idaho Asian Plaza at Cole Rd and Ustick in Boise – Will accept functioning or broken items. Free of charge.

If you're outside the Treasure Valley, check with your trash collection company's website, as they often list their local options. Another valuable resource is Terracycle. You can enter whatever you want to recycle along with your location, and they will show you local options. www.terracycle.com

Stay tuned for the next post on options to get some cash for your items, and in the meantime, happy delcuttering!
